DON’T CRY FOR ME
I’ve seen a new born baby cry,
I’ve held it in my arms.
I’ve done most things I wanted to do
So when I’m gone, don’t cry for me.
I’ve been to cities that don’t close down;
I’ve trod on foreign soil.
I’ve tasted love on a tropical night,
I’ve known hate when things were tight.
I’ve done most things I wanted to do
So when I’m gone, don’t cry for me.
I’ve sailed the ocean blue,
I’ve seen its mighty power.
I’ve fought to defend the rights of others;
I’ve trod the straight and narrow.
I’ve done most things I wanted to do
So when I’m gone, don’t cry for me.
I’ve gone to war to keep us free;
Though there was no welcome home.
I’ve lived my life the way I wanted,
I have few regrets.
I’ve done most things I wanted to do
So when I’m gone, don’t cry for me.
I’m not scared of dying, but just being less than whole;
I’ve lived all I’ve wanted to live.
So when I’m gone, don’t cry for me.
