David R. “Poppa” Alexander

Dear David,

IWVPA Bronze Helmet Top Poet Award of Excellence: July 2006After much consideration, I have decided to award the Bronze Helmet Top Poet Award of Excellence for July 2006 to you. You have enhanced the lives of many folk with your honest, forthright, steadfast, and insightful writings, and your friendship and patience have been examples to us all. Before joining IWVPA, you had never written a poem but by contributing and sharing. I think you found previously unrecognized inner strength. Mostly, your writings have become testaments that have enabled others to accept their ailments and despair.

The “IWVPA Bronze Helmet Top Poet Award of Excellence” cannot be obtained by application. One poet, who has writing(s) published on the IWVPA websites, is selected each month to receive the award. Members of the IWVPA Club may make recommendations of writers who, in their opinion, have achieved the standard required to be named “Top Poet” for any given month and although the final decision rests with the IWVPA Webmaster, the Award is made on behalf of all members of the IWVPA Club.

Peace and the Lord be with you always,

Cooee Cobber,

Anthony W. Pahl OAM
IWVPA Webmaster and Literary Editor

My name is Amy Mize; I am a mother of two and a proud Marine’s wife. My uncle is David Alexander and he recently passed away. I know how much this site, and all of you meant to him and I wanted to say thank you for being able to present him with an award before his passing. It meant the world to him and to his family.

Thanks again for your support.
