At times, God was left behind in Vietnam,
But I always knew He was there,
God allowed the killing sure,
But His love was always pure.

God, at times, remains still
Because, you remember, He gave man free will,
Had He sided with the enemy,
None of us would have come home; would that be a remedy?

And yes, I am the man I am,
Because of my love for Him,
Yes, we all prayed in Vietnam,
And that’s why we knew we weren’t damned.

Of future wars, we can only pray
That God will, beside us, stay
Because God doesn’t start the wars but He does allow them to cease,
And get down on your knees tonight and pray for peace.
