‘TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
‘Twas the night before Christmas, across this great land,
We slept safe in our beds while they patrolled in the sand.
They’d been up since dawn, their mission’s complete,
Coffee and rations, some mail they would read.
Lieutenant had told them today they might call,
Loved ones back home who missed them above all.
Mail call brought smiles, gifts Mom had made,
Letters from girls and photos from babes.
Someone got cookies; another had snacks,
A splash of good whiskey from a hidden gold flask.
Stories were told of Christmas back home,
Most Soldiers joined in, while some sat all alone.
The Chaplain stopped by, they all joined in prayer,
Carols sang softly in the cold desert air.
Each settled in for a restless night’s sleep,
“Forgive me dear Lord, sometimes it’s too deep.
I chose to be here, my Country I serve well,
With Brothers beside me; we’ve all walked through hell.
Give us this day, one day let us rest,
Tomorrow’s a new day, we’ll be back at our best.
Mom, if you’re wishing upon this same star,
Know that I love you and take care of my car!
Tell Dad there’ll be no football to bet on this year,
Give Grandma and Grandpa a cup of good cheer.
Let everyone know for now, I’m okay,
For me and my buddies, remember to pray.
May each of you know the cost to be free,
Have faith we have paid it, in America we believe!”
With dawn fast approaching, God looks from above,
“My children, you’re honored, and oh, how you’re loved.
Your Country still needs you, with Angels walk tall,
My Sons and My Daughters, for YOU, I gave all.”

MY CHRISTMAS WISH FOR YOU
If I could make a wish, and know it would come true,
I’d wish for happy hearts to every one of you.
We’ve all had trials and troubles, souls that live in pain,
Please know that there’s a rainbow after every cold, dark rain.
Angels do surround us, sent from God above,
With wings so soft and tender, caressing with His Love.
Through all of life’s journeys, we never walk alone,
For, God resides within us, and waits to lead us home.
For all my friends and family, know that you are blessed,
When Jesus sent His Angels, He sent the very best.
Prayers are spoken daily, and on into the night,
For souls who feel such darkness, to feel God’s shining light.
This road of life’s not easy, with many curves and bends,
Detours often block us, leading to many dead ends.
Through trial and error we’ll stumble, but always find the way,
To home and family waiting, oh, what a glorious day!
So, for this special season, may every heart know joy,
Remembering the celebration of God’s most precious boy.
Thank you, God for family, for friends whose love abounds,
May every heart rejoice with the peaceful Christmas sounds.
For every man and woman who serve in foreign lands,
Let them feel the love of our precious Father’s Hands.
They honor every family, serving the red, white and blue,
Peace on earth for family is my Christmas wish for you.
