IN THE SPRINGTIME OF MY LIFE

It was my Granddad’s walking cane
and how he could lay it down to play.
He never once lost his step
and he never tired along the way.

The Big Ben puzzles, he shared with me,
and how they could take up all my days.
I learned patience and the value of time
and that some things just go one way.

It was in Grandma’s many gardens
I learned the splendor of natures’ chores.
She worked from dawn till dusk
and reaped its many just rewards.

It was her love for God
and she passed in on to me.
It was my greatest gift of life
and she gave it endlessly.

They both taught me many things;
How to laugh and work and play.
In the springtime of my life;
and I use them till this day.
